The design of EP Books Taichung is characterized by its bright and clear atmosphere. Cheng Hui Hsin used a predominantly white color scheme and bookcase walls throughout the interior to create a serene environment where readers can immerse themselves in their books, free from the worries of daily life. The space is designed to be both flexible and interesting, with the rotating bookcases adding an element of surprise and novelty.
The library's design is not just about aesthetics; it also serves a practical purpose. The rotating bookcases divide the large space into three sections, providing sound insulation and making the space more flexible. This design feature was inspired by the magical world of Harry Potter, where ordinary objects often have hidden features and functions.
Cheng Hui Hsin used light-colored wood and a white color scheme to create a space where people could put down their smartphones and immerse themselves in reading. The bookcases are strategically placed throughout the space, making reading a treasure hunt of sorts. The high and low bookcases are well-proportioned, creating a sense of being on a safari in a sea of books.
The design project, which started in May 2017 and was completed in November 2017 in Taichung, Taiwan, was a challenge in many ways. The designer had to create a reader-friendly environment that would also accommodate charity group activities. The result is a space that caters to various needs within a limited space.
The design of EP Books Taichung is a testament to the power of innovative design in creating engaging and functional spaces. The library has won the Golden A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2019, a prestigious award granted to outstanding and trendsetting creations. The design embodies extraordinary excellence and significantly impacts the world with its desirable characteristics.
